A drive-by shooting occurred in Brixton early Tuesday, injuring four people during a suspected barbecue party. Police received reports of gunfire on Coldharbour Lane at 1:14 AM.
Detectives reported that one 25-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition. Three other victims, aged 21, 47, and 70, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
DCI Allam Bhangoo stated, “This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice.” Local residents expressed concern about their safety after the incident.
Moh John, a shopkeeper nearby, said, “I was putting something there and I heard the noises.” Robert, an estate resident, added, “I usually feel safe around here; people know each other and get on.” This incident raises serious questions about public safety in the area.
The London Ambulance Service dispatched a trauma team to the scene. Detectives are currently reviewing CCTV footage collected from a nearby supermarket to identify those responsible for the attack.
No arrests have been made as of midday Tuesday. The police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
