Cambridge Partners with Concrete Rose for Community Support

cambridge — GB news

The Cambridge has made a three-year £22,500 pledge to Concrete Rose Collective CIC. This partnership aims to create a self-sustaining financial support system for care leavers in Cambridgeshire.

As of midday, funding has been allocated to several organizations. Jimmy’s Cambridge received £10,000 to fund a support worker for housing transition. Reach Haverhill also received £10,000 for a Community Adviser in South Cambridgeshire.

Additionally, Cambridge Re-Use secured £3,674 for new computer equipment. The funding supports work addressing homelessness and financial hardship.

Carole Charter stated, “We are proud to support organisations that are making a real and lasting difference to people across our communities.” Mike Farrington added, “Not having family to turn to at ‘fork in the road’ moments can be a huge barrier to progress for the young people we support.”

Meanwhile, Cambridge Aerospace is making strides in defence technology. Their Skyhammer interceptor missiles were tested in Jordan earlier this week. These missiles have a range of 30km and can reach speeds of 700km/h.

The UK Ministry of Defence signed a multimillion-pound contract with Cambridge Aerospace. The first tranche of Skyhammer missiles will be delivered to the UK Armed Forces in May.

In another development, Barocal secured £7.4m in seed funding. This funding will help develop solid-state cooling and heating systems aimed at reducing emissions in the heating and cooling sector.

Mark Windeknecht noted that Barocal achieved a breakthrough that delivers solid-state materials capable of competing with traditional vapour-based technologies.

This sequence of events marks significant progress for both community support initiatives and defence technology advancements in the region.
