ITV is reviving the iconic game show Name That Tune, with Alison Hammond as the host. This revival marks a significant return of the show to UK television after decades.

The original Name That Tune aired on ITV from 1976 to 1987. The format tests contestants’ music knowledge through fast-paced rounds. It has been successfully revived in the U.S. on Fox since 2020.

Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment at ITV, expressed excitement about bringing this refreshed format to UK audiences. She stated, “Name That Tune is such an iconic brand and we are excited to be bringing this refreshed global format to the UK audience.”

Alison Hammond, known for her love of music, shared her enthusiasm: “As a massive music lover, my biggest challenge as a host will be trying not to grab the mic and start singing along when one of my all-time favourite tunes comes on!” She added that being part of this project feels like a full-circle moment.

The U.S. version has aired for 70 years across various networks including NBC and CBS. The band from this version will perform in the UK adaptation.

The new series will air on both ITV1 and ITVX. It is produced by ITV Studios’ Bright Entertainment and BiggerStage.

This revival follows a long history of the show, which first debuted in the UK as part of the variety show Wednesday at Eight.

While details about the premiere date remain unclear, fans are eagerly anticipating this nostalgic return.
