Mykhailo Mudryk has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against a four-year doping ban imposed by the Football Association. The appeal was submitted on February 25, 2026.
Mudryk has been sidelined for nearly 18 months after an adverse finding in a routine urine test. He was provisionally suspended in December 2024 while on international duty.
In June 2025, the FA charged him and handed down a maximum four-year ban. Mudryk tested positive for the prohibited substance meldonium.
He joined Chelsea FC from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for an initial fee of £88 million. Since November 2024, he has not played a competitive match.
If the appeal fails, he would not be eligible for selection until December 2028. Mudryk maintains his innocence, stating he has “never knowingly used any banned substances.” He has been training with a private coach during his suspension.
Chelsea FC declined to comment on the ongoing case, while the FA has not disclosed further details regarding the situation.
Mudryk described his “complete shock” upon receiving the news of his ban. He insists he did “not do anything wrong” and plans to fight the ruling vigorously.
