Richard Osman received an OBE from Princess Anne during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. Osman expressed pride in being British despite feeling very nervous.

He was honored for his contributions to literature and broadcasting. Osman is the author of the best-selling Thursday Murder Club novels.

He first became a household name as the co-host of the BBC quiz show Pointless. Osman described the experience at Windsor Castle as feeling like a responsibility more than an honour.

Osman was not alone; 67 recipients were honoured by the Princess Royal on the same day. Bill Bailey received an MBE for services to entertainment, while Marcus Wareing also received an MBE for culinary arts and broadcasting.

Osman mentioned, “I felt very nervous going in there.” He recalled the brief moment of meeting Princess Anne: “shake hands, walk back, bow, and walk off.”

In 2022, Osman met his wife, Ingrid Oliver, on the set of Richard Osman’s House of Games. He stepped down from hosting the show in March 2026.

The honor reflects Osman’s significant impact in television and literature. His work continues to resonate with audiences across the UK.
