“Today, the national threat level has increased to ‘severe,’ which means a terrorist attack is considered highly likely,” stated Shabana Mahmood.

The UK National Threat Level was raised from SUBSTANTIAL to SEVERE early Tuesday by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC). This decision follows a stabbing incident targeting the Jewish community in Golders Green.

Two Jewish men were seriously injured in the attack. One victim is 34 years old, while the other is 76. A 45-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident.

The increase in threat level reflects rising concerns over Islamist and Extreme Right Wing terrorism. Shabana Mahmood emphasized that this situation will be a source of concern for many, especially within the Jewish community.

The last time the threat level was at SEVERE was after significant events in 2021, including the Liverpool Women’s Hospital bombing and the killing of MP David Amess.

In response to this heightened threat, the UK government pledged to invest £25 million in increased police patrols and security measures for Jewish communities.

Keir Starmer assured that his government would do everything possible to combat hatred and violence against any community.

The public awaits further updates as authorities assess the situation. The community remains on high alert as officials investigate the motives behind the Golders Green attack.
