Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are in talks for a fight scheduled for 2026.
This news comes as Joshua plans a warm-up fight prior to facing Fury. Details remain unconfirmed.
As of early Tuesday, David Haye stated that both fighters need this bout to solidify their legacies.
Haye remarked, “That’s the biggest fight they could both possibly have. They should be pushing it, they should be pressing it, they have to be.”
Fury returned to boxing after a year-long break. His last fight was a decision win against Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Makhmudov is also a potential opponent for Joshua’s upcoming warm-up fight, which is expected within three months.
Interestingly, Joshua’s last fight was against Jake Paul in December 2025. He lost to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
Dillian Whyte criticized Joshua for not accepting Fury’s challenge sooner. He said, “AJ should have said yeah… Just take the fight and shut up.”
Both boxers have lost their world titles to Oleksandr Usyk, adding urgency to their potential matchup.
Fury stands at 6’9”, while Makhmudov is almost 6’6”. This height difference could play into their respective fighting styles.
As of now, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has received a contract for the Fury fight, but details are still being finalized.
The boxing community awaits further updates on this potentially historic matchup.
